PROJECT AND SOURCE

The developer behind DocuExtract

DocuExtract is a browser-based PDF invoice extraction project with a public source repository. This page documents the project's technologies, available developer link and stated direction without inventing a personal biography or credentials.

Where can you find the developer?

The developer's supplied public profile is GitHub, where the account is identified as MANayab. No role title, location, personal story, professional qualifications, contact email or other social profile was supplied for publication, so this page does not assert those details.

What is DocuExtract built with?

The documented stack includes React 18, TypeScript, Vite, Tailwind CSS, pdf.js, ExcelJS and Zod. Testing uses Vitest, Testing Library and Playwright. Deployment uses GitHub Actions.

These technologies support a browser-oriented workflow: read PDF text, extract structured fields, validate data, allow a person to review the result and export it in a suitable format. The presence of a technology in the stack is not a claim that extraction will be correct for every document.

What principles are visible in the project design?

The documented product design emphasizes local file processing, human review, structured exports and explicit limitations. Application code does not upload invoice files to a backend, and the application has no account, database, analytics or telemetry.

  • Review before consequential use. Extraction is heuristic and results must be checked against the source invoice.
  • Explain compatibility boundaries. Text-based PDFs are supported, while scanned PDFs and multiple invoices per PDF remain planned work.
  • Validate and sanitize exports. Extracted data is Zod-validated, and export handling includes formula-injection sanitization.
  • Keep source available. The current repository and issue tracker are public.

These points describe documented project behavior and design. They are not a substitute for a security audit or a guarantee about the user's browser and device.

What is the developer working toward?

The published roadmap identifies two planned improvements: OCR support for scanned and image-only PDFs, and support for multiple invoices in one PDF. Both are planned, not committed, and have no published delivery dates.

Until those capabilities are released and documented, use text-based PDFs and submit one invoice per PDF. Follow the project roadmap and GitHub issue tracker for project information.

What is the current licensing direction?

DocuExtract v1.0.0 is open source under the MIT License. The developer plans to offer future production versions under a commercial licence. Versions already released under MIT remain available under MIT.
